Responsibility for the Production of Knowledge Recognize, understand and balance subjectivities –Appreciate alternate realities –Get the full story –Ensure authenticity

Responsibility for the Production of Knowledge Accurately Report on Results. Students need to ensure that they do not: –Fabricate / falsify results –Omit cases/ ‘fiddle’ within numbers –Plagiarize –Misrepresent authorship

Responsibility for the Production of Knowledge Students must also: Act within the law Develop appropriate expertise and experience

Responsibility for the Researched Ensure respondents have given informed consent. This implies that students are: –Competent –Autonomous –Involved voluntarily –Aware of their right to discontinue –Not deceived –Not coerced –Not induced

Responsibility for the Researched Ensure that no harm comes to respondents. This includes both –physical and –psychological harm

Responsibility for the Researched Ensure confidentiality, and if appropriate anonymity –Confidentiality – researcher protects known identity –Anonymity – research does not know identity
