Key Terms Intrusion You cannot gather information in a situation where someone has a right to expect privacy. You cannot trespass, use secret surveillance, or misrepresent yourself to get information
Key Terms Public Disclosure of Private Facts You cannot publicize personal details that may cause emotional distress. The material must be private, intimate and/or offensive
Key Terms False Light You cannot run a story, photo, headline or photo caption that portrays someone as something they are not. You can be sued if someone can prove you did this recklessly and the portrayal is “highly offensive to a reasonable person.”
Key Terms Appropriation You cannot use someone’s name, photo or words to endorse or sell something without their permission.
