1 Wesley Heights Weekly Activities October 18 - 24 This Week’s Highlights Sunday, October 19 th - 1:00 pm - Fall Foliage Trip Wednesday, October 22 nd - 8:45 am Trip to Stockbridge, MA - 9:30 am – Absentee Ballots Thursday, October 23 - 2:00 pm – Music with the Pitchpipers Friday, October 24 th - 1:30 pm - Bible Study with Rev. Dr. Al Miller Halloween is October 31 st Halloween is fast approaching and its never to early to think about costumes. It always adds a great element of fun when staff and residents dress up for the holiday. If you don’t have a costume, fun hat, boa, etc. why not ask a family member or friend if they have something you can borrow. Look for details of our Halloween activities next week!!

2 10:00 a.m. Dog Visit – Enjoy a friendly visit with our therapy dog(s). – Sunroom 1:00–2:00 pm Village Store – Closed today. Will be open tomorrow! 2:00 p.m. Bingo – See if you hold a lucky card and can win a prize! – Activity Room 3:30 p.m. Wii Bowling - Enjoy a bit of friendly competition playing this interactive bowling game on the big screen TV with our volunteer Samantha. – Activity Room 6:00 p.m. Saturday Night Movie - “Joshua’s Heart” - A young woman (Melissa Gilbert) breaks up with her boyfriend and comes to face the painful reality that she will also be separated from the man's son, a boy she has come to love as her own. – Activity Room (Movie is approximately 1 ½ hours long Saturday, October 18

3 9:30 a.m. Transportation to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and United Methodist Church 1:00 p.m. Fall Foliage Trip – If you signed up to take a ride to see the fall foliage with our driver, Dave Segal, please meet promptly in the front lobby. Cottage residents will be picked up at their doors. 1:00 p.m. Sunday Movie –”The King’s Speech” – When England’s throne is suddenly thrust upon him, amidst royal family scandal and impending world war, King George VI (Colin Firth) must overcome a lifelong, debilitating speech impediment to lead his nation. Activity Room 3:30 p.m. Happy Hour – Enjoy social time with your neighbors, friends and our volunteers Joanne, Frank, and Marge. 6 8:45 a.m. Trip to Stockbridge, MA – If you signed up for the trip to Stockbridge to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and the Red Lion Inn, please meet promptly in the front lobby. Cottage residents will be picked up at their doors. 9:30 a.m. Transportation to Walmart and Local Banks – Sign up at the front desk. 9:30 a.m. Absentee Ballots – Representatives from the Registrar of Voter’s Office will be here with absentee ballots for those that applied. – Activity Room (kitchen side) 10:00 a.m. Morning Chat with Joan – Join our volunteer Joan Pollack to chat about topics of interest. Have you heard something interesting on the news, read a good book lately, or just have something on your mind….why not share with others and get the conversation started in this informal setting. – Southeast Lounge 10:00 a.m. Meditation with Pete – Practice techniques that will help you relax and find peace and inner tranquility. – Activity Room 2:00 p.m. Bingo – See if you hold a lucky card and can win a prize! – Activity Room (note change of day this week) 6:00 p.m. Wednesday Night Movie – “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” – Whoopi Goldberg returns as everyone’s favorite nun! This time she goes undercover as Sister Mary Clarence at a troubled inner-city school. Equipped with a melody marching lesson plan, she brings the gift of laughter, the power of music, and a touch of heavenly inspiration to the classroom – before the streetwise students discover who she really is. – Activity Room (Movie is approx. 1 ¾ hours long) Wednesday, October 22 Exercise cancelled this morning

7 8:30 a.m. Blood Pressure Clinic – Activity Room 9:00 a.m. Manicures with Barbara – Sunroom 9:30 am. Prayer Shawl Ministry – If you like to knit or crochet, you are welcome to join this group. All items made will be donated to those in need. – Sunroom 10:00 a.m. Coffee Hour – Join our volunteers Joyce and Jackson for social time and a cup of coffee. 1:00 p.m. Rosary with Marie – Pray the Rosary with our volunteer Marie. – Activity Room Chapel 2:00 p.m. Music with the Pitchpipers – This four-part harmony singing group is sponsored by the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County. Their repertoire includes seasonal music, show tunes, songs of inspiration, old time classics and patriotic themes in a variety of musical styles from barbershop to calypso. 8 9:30 a.m. Transportation to Stop and Shop and Local Banks – Sign up at the front desk. 9:30 a.m. Kings in the Corner – Have fun playing this favorite card game with our volunteer Sue. - Sunroom 11:00 a.m. Catholic Mass with Father John – All are welcome to attend. – Activity Room Chapel 1:30 p.m. Bible Study – “St. Paul and His Letter to the Church at Ephesus” – Rev. Dr. Albert Miller, retired UMC minister and Wesley Village resident, will lead the session. - Activity Room 3:30 p.m. Pokeno - Join our volunteer Kristin to play this game that is very similar to Bingo but playing cards are called instead of numbers. When you have “Pokeno” (5 chips in a row) you win a dollar! – Activity Room 6:00 p.m. Bowling – Join our volunteer Gerry to try your hand at bowling. Great for balance and coordination! If you don’t want to play, come on down and cheer on our bowlers. - Sunroom Friday, October 24
