1 Cameron Trussell, Elliot Guber, Joel Mendez, Brady Phillips, Branden Campbell, and Dushyant Dhundara Conceptual Design Review for “The Stabilizer”

2 Mission Overview Objective: Our satellite “The Stabilizer” shall ascend to 30 kilometers carrying a CCD video camera that will record a fixed image of the Earth throughout the flight We intend to prove that image stabilization on a near space balloon satellite without a complex, fallible mechanisms is possible The idea of image stabilization on a near space satellite is relatively unexplored and could yield to a wider variety of uses for near space satellites. Team Cosmos, The Stabilizer

3 Design: Structure 20x30x20cm foam core box 15x19cm Plexiglas window for optimal imaging Aluminum tape and hot glue for holding structure together Insulation Team Cosmos, The Stabilizer

4 Design: Stabilization System Gyroscopic system Half-circular brackets System of bearings Sits above plexiglas window Batteries and storage for camera shall be attached to prevent interference Will keep camera from being affected by motion of satellite Team Cosmos, The Stabilizer Prototype
