3 Third Party Involvement Anti-Masonic Party – Opposed secrecy of Masonic Order – “Energized” by New York murder – Appealed to suspicions of secret societies – Contained many evangelical Protestants Wanted to use political power to effect reforms

4 National Nominating Conventioins – Very large amount of people Formal Platforms – Candidates publicized their opinions

5 Outcome of the Election Andrew Jackson (Democratic) wins with – 219 Electoral Votes – 687,502 Popular Votes Henry Clay (National Republican) loses with – 49 Electoral Votes – 530,189 Popular Votes William Wart ( Anti-Masonic) loses with – 7 Electoral Votes – 100,715 Popular Votes
