OJJDP’S TRIBAL YOUTH DETENTION AND REENTRY GREEN GRANTEES GRANTEE PEER LEARNING MEETING CHOCTAW, MS APRIL 6-7, 2011 Accessing Resources For Your Environmentally Sustainable Projects
Sustainable Nations PennElys GoodShield is our technical partner and is available to assist you with strategic planning for your environmentally sustainable projects. PennElys’s expertise is very broad and deep in most areas of sustainable project development. If she does not have the knowledge or resources to help you, she can work to find them.
SN Strategic Planning Identifying your physical and personal resources Planning technical aspects of your projects Creating budgets for projects Creating realistic timelines for accomplishing projects Being available for consulting for the duration of the work
SN Technical Assistance SN offers workshops and training for staff and youth in their areas of expertise. They could include: 1. A Comprehensive five - day ‘Green Technology’ Training, designed at a level you choose. W orkshop allows for participation of the youth for the duration of the training. An important component is to leave youth with follow up information describing how and where they can pursue more education and/or a career in various fields. We acknowledge that job creation on the reservations in a community-serving and environmentally appropriate manner is key in keeping our youth out of trouble, and we can offer this type of supplementary education and exposure to our youth in our programs.
SN Technical Assistance 2. Basic Energy Efficiency/Energy Auditor Training Timeframe: 5 Days Students will be presented with a certificate upon successful completion. This module is designed to cover: Residential energy uses and loss Assessment procedure, observations, techniques and identifying goals Client interviews, communication and observational inspections The house as a system – interactive effects The what, why, and how much of diagnostic testing equipment
