Did you know??? The River Towy is the longest river which flows entirely through Wales. In 1932 Alec Allan caught the biggest fresh water fish ever. It was a massive sturgeon which weighted 388lbs and was over 9 feet in length!!!
Using ICT we researched the following world rivers: Nile Amazon Mississippi Volga Murray
Back in class we used this to: Produce a personal pie chart of our water usage. We found out that the most water used was as a result of running baths. We made comparison bar graphs comparing our usage with the class average.
Here is an example of a Pie Chart that shows water usage over a couple of days :
This Comparison Bar Graph compares Jack’s Water Usage with the Class Average (Mean)
We wrote River Acrostic Poems using powerful verbs, adjectives and personification.
We learned all about the Water Cycle by watching videos, drawing pictures and explaining the processes involved.
Our research lead us to Water Aid. A charitable organisation founded to provide less fortunate people around the world with clean and fresh drinking water. We realised how less fortunate a lot of people are who do not have access to clean drinking water or a toilet! As a consequence we wanted to do something to help!!
Year 5 held a ‘Bring and Buy’ sale and raised over £150!!!! Thank you for your support!!
