Use your own paper Name one organ in the circulatory system. TURN IN YOUR PROJECT!!!!!
Life Science Mr. Petriccione
The circulatory system carries blood to every part of the body
It works with the respiratory system It uses a network of transport tubes, acting like a set of highways and roads.
Arteries-carry oxygen rich blood to the cells Veins-carry carbon dioxide blood away from cells Capillaries-exchanges oxygen and carbon dioxide between cells
The heart moves blood through four chambers
What do arteries do?
It enters the right atrium from the vena cava
It goes through a valve to the right ventricle The valve prevents blood from flowing back
It goes to the pulmonary artery that moves blood to the lungs
It picks up oxygen at the lungs
It returns to the heart through the pulmonary vein, entering the left atrium
From the left atrium, it passes through another valve to the left ventricle The valve prevents blood from flowing back
From the left ventricle, it flows to the aorta and out to the body
From the Aorta, it moves to arteries and then to capillaries
From the capillaries, it drops off oxygen and nutrients at the cells
After dropping off the oxygen, the blood moves from the capillaries to the veins to the vena cava
What are the four parts (chambers) of the heart?
The muscle cells of the heart shorten, causing the muscle fibers to shorten, and the heart muscle to contract
Use your own paper What does a valve do?
Blood transports oxygen and nutrients to other parts of the body
Liquid part of blood
Carry oxygen, using hemoglobin
Binds oxygen to the red blood cells, using iron
Help the body fight infection
Help in clotting, to stop bleeding
Who has ever heard of it? What is it?
Shape of Blood Cells is sickle-shaped What is a sickle?
Shortened life expectancy Blood clots are more common because the sickle shape lumps together Oddly, people with sickle cell anemia are immune from malaria It is a genetic disorder
Circulatory System. Cardiovascular System Includes heart, blood, blood vessels Moves materials to all parts of your body – Movement of materials into.
The Circulatory System SNC2D. The circulatory system circulates (moves) your blood through your body.
The Circulatory System. Aorta Superior vena cava Pulmonary artery Pulmonary vein Bicuspid valve Right atrium Right ventricle Inferior vena cava.
The Circulatory System Let’s get moving on…. Your Transportation System!!
Cardiovascular System & the Heart. The Cardiovascular System SN p. 125 Links all parts of your body Consists of heart, blood vessels, and blood
Cardiovascular System. Cardio = “heart” Vascular = “vessels” Cardio = “heart” Vascular = “vessels”
The Circulatory System. Function Consists of the heart and blood vessels Carries oxygen and nutrients to the body’s cells and remove carbon dioxide.
The Circulatory System (Cardiovascular). Cardiovascular System Includes your heart, blood and vessels Includes your heart, blood and vessels Bring Oxygen.
Cardiovascular System. Fun Facts!!! If we looked at all the blood vessels in your body, what would the total length be? Around the world twice!
Circulatory System Notes. Pulmonary Circulation: Lungs, oxygen into blood, carbon dioxide out Systemic Circulation: Moves blood to body (not to heart.
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM The highway system of the body.
Circulatory System. Functions Transport oxygen and carbon dioxide Distribute nutrients Transport wastes Distribute hormones Regulate body temperature.

The Heart & The Circulatory System. The Circulatory System is the body’s transportation system.
THE HEART A pump made of cardiac muscle that pushes blood to our cells.
The Circulatory System. What is the purpose of the circulatory system?
Mission Pledge: As part of HMS I will seek to create a positive learning environment in which all students will excel today, tomorrow, and forever.
Blood Flow Through the Heart. Right Lung Left Lung.
Circulatory System Transports products from the digestive and respiratory system to the cells around the body Transports products from the digestive and.
Circulatory System. The circulatory system is made up of the heart, blood, and all the various types of blood vessels such as arteries, veins, and capillaries.
The Flow of Blood in the Human Circulatory System.
Circulatory and Respiratory Systems. Circulatory System 2 functions 1. Blood delivers nutrients (food) and oxygen to cells so they can function.

The Circulatory System. Warm Up Write down three things you can do to keep your heart healthy Write down three things you can do to keep your heart healthy.
6.2.1 Draw and label a diagram of the heart showing the four chambers, associated blood vessels, valves and the route of the blood through the heart Some.
Circulatory System. Circulatory System works like roads in the body – Works with Respiratory System to deliver Oxygen and remove Carbon Dioxide – Works.
CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM KEY TERMS. Cardiovascular System Key Terms FRONT Cardio/Cardiac BACK Having to do with the Heart.
Do Now: Can you use the stethoscope to hear your heart beat? Count how many times it beats a minute. Hold your breath. Does your heart beat? Is there.
I can list the functions of the circulatory system. I can give examples of materials needed by cells to function. I can give an example of waste.
HEART Made of cardiac muscle a. Right atrium – receives blood from whole body b. Left atrium Receives blood from lungs c. Right ventricle –

(Lub dub, lub dub). You will need to be able to label the following parts of the circulatory system AND know what their “job” is: Left and right atrium.
Blood and Breathing: circulatory and respiratory systems Two connected organ systems that depend on each other
