Nelson Mandela’s staff chose The Pacific Institute to help implement a grass roots educational initiative. The entire Faculty of Education at the Nelson Mandela Institute of Education and Rural Development was trained. In 2007, the Guatemalan Ministry of Education engaged The Pacific Institute as a partner in a teacher training project to increase the nation’s low graduation rate for first-graders. In one year, 12,900 teachers were trained.
