1 The verb ESTAR and Emotions and Reviewing adjective noun agreements Table of contents #7 Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. Objective: Students will learn the different uses of the verb estar and review it’s conjugation forms.

4 Verb Estar-also used with adjectives to talk about certain emotional and physical conditions of places or things. estoyestamos estásx estáestán

5 Examples 1.La habitacion esta sucia. 2.La puerta está cerrada. 3.Yo estoy cansada. 4.Están listos para su viaje. 5.Yo estoy en mi clase. 6.Ustedes están muy alegres. 7.El está muy bien. 8.El esta de buen humor. 9.Yo estoy de mal humor. 7 Remember:Adjective/Gender/Agreement All adjectives have to agree in gender and number with the noun they are describing. If the noun is feminine the ending of the adjective has to be feminine, if the noun is masculine the adjective has to be masculine. Remember this concept? Gender Agreement Ella está preocupada El está preocupado Number Agreement-if the noun is plural the adjective has to be plural Nosotros estamos aburridos Nosotras estamos aburridas

8 Adjectives that don’t have gender- These adjectives don’t change according to the gender of a noun, but they still change with number AlegreAlegres Tristetristes Felizfelices Amable amables NOTE:THESE ADJECTIVES STILL NEED TO HAVE AN –S ADDED TO SHOW NUMBER.
