2. 2 What is Overtime? Overtime is the amount of time someone works beyond normal working hours. Normal hours may be determined by agreement between employers and workers or their representatives.

3. 3 What are the Overtime rates? Time-and-a-half (x1.5) for the first 2 or 3 hours beyond normal working hours. Double-time (x2) after the first 2 or 3 hours beyond normal working hours. There are other rates but they are not common.

4. 4 What is an Overtime Meals Allowance? Meal Allowances may be paid if an employee works more than 2 hours past normal working hours. Meal allowances may not be paid if one days notice is given. Check your award.
