Safe Handling of Hot Asphalt Charlie Lund, Chairman, Asphalt Institute Canadian Committee Canadian User Producer Group for Asphalt November 21, 2004
Its not the Fire, Its the Heat! An Asphalt Cement fire is hard to start, but once lit it is very difficult to put out. Thin liquid - can easily splash or spray. Will cause immediate, severe burns on contact with skin. Will boil water instantly and explosively. –Will boil asphalt emulsions just as easily. Great care required when working with Hot Asphalt.
