Asphalt - Crude oil is used in the making of asphalt, along with different types of aggregates and polymers - Different areas of the USA have different types of asphalt - For each climate there is an asphalt that will perform better than the others.
Making BR² BR² is swine waste that is ran through a thermal reactor. The thermal reactor puts the swine waste under pressure and heat to produce the BR². When it comes out of the reactor it is a black oil like substance.
Making BR² The bio oil is pumped into a tanker and taken to the asphalt plant to be mixed in with asphalt at about 10% - 15%. The BR² is also being used in fertilizer coatings and roofing asphalt.
Petroleum vs.. BR² PROPERTYPetroleum Asphalt BR² Asphalt- Grade BR² Roofing- Grade Softening Point 145°F 185°F Affinity for SBS Polymer Fair-GoodExcellent Relative cost to produce 100% 75% of the cost of asphalt
Fertilizer Coating BR² Fertilizer Coating Benefits Cost – 20% lower cost than current coatings Biodegradable - Degrades unlike synthetic coatings Nutrient Value - Adds 4% nitrogen to the analysis Unique - Truly differentiates Productivity – Coats as much as 2x faster Control BR² Applied
Conclusion BR² will help cut down on the dependency on crude oil It will create new jobs and help out farmers. The use of green of green products.
