How does Score Reporting work? Student takes test. Student asks ETS to report scores to Rice (6609)
How does Score Reporting work? ETS Reports both TOEFL and GRE Scores A paper copy of the GRE is sent to the department. ETS associates most department codes with Rice Mail Stops. This list is managed by GPS. No paper copy of the TOEFL is officially sent to Rice. Electronic files with both TOEFL and GRE scores are sent to GPS.
How does Score Reporting work? When GPS receives the GRE/TOEFL scores they are uploaded to a database accessible from GradAdmit or the GSDB. Coordinators associate applications with the applicant’s official test scores.
Why aren’t the scores there? The applicant hasn’t officially reported the scores to the graduate institution Rice (GI ). Enough time hasn’t passed since the scores were reported for GPS to receive and upload them (usually this is 1 to 2 weeks). The applicant’s name appears differently with ETS and on the application (hyphens or spaces dropped, etc.). The applicant entered their birthday incorrectly when taking their test or on their application.
How do I find the scores? Make sure the test date is at least two weeks in the past. ALWAYS “Search ALL scores.” Search only by birthday (MM-DD-YYYY). Search only by first name. Search with first name as the last name. Search by birth date (with month and day reversed) DD-MM-YYYY. Search by running the names together (either as the first or last names).
Still need help? Confirm that applicant actually sent their scores to Rice as a graduate institution (GI ). Ask the applicant to obtain their “ETS Reporting Cycle Number.” Contact GPS so that we can look up the scores directly in the database (we need the Reporting Cycle Number to do this).
What about IELTS? IELTS does not send scores to Rice electronically. Students enter their registration number on their application. With the registration number, either Bridgitt or Kate can confirm test scores and send you an official report via.pdf.
Improving the process next year Make sure instructions to report scores to Rice are clear on your website and other application instruction materials. Warn applicants to take standardized tests in advance of the application deadline.
What if we suspect cheating on the TOEFL? Please report suspected cases to GPS or OISS.
