12 IS THIS A GOOD PARAGRAPH? Both Macbeth and Romeo feel isolated in their societies. Macbeth starts off being close to his wife (‘my dearest partner of greatness’) but by Act 3 scene 3 he is no longer close to her and is not confiding in her. This contributes to him feeling uncertain about what to do. What has made then both isolated is their violent actions. Macbeth says, ‘I am in blood/stepped so far that I should wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er’, showing that he is feeling isolated and stuck where he is. Similarly, Romeo feels isolated when he talks to Friar Lawrence is his cell after Romeo has murdered Tybalt. He says to Friar Lawrence, ‘thou canst not speak of that thou dost not feel.’ He is saying Friar Lawrence can’t know how he feels, because he hasn’t been in love and hasn’t committed murder.
