“Serve Congress and the Supreme Court, preserve America’s Capitol and inspire memorable experiences for our visitors” 17.4 million square feet of facilities and 550 acres of historic buildings and grounds Includes U.S. Capitol, Senate and House Office Buildings, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Botanic Garden, others Production and distribution of steam and chilled water to more than 25 buildings Assets entrusted to our care must continue to meet Legislative, Judicial, and public needs while maintaining historical preservation focus Since 1793 – AOC and predecessors have overseen buildings and grounds—10 AOCs 2,600 employees: architects, laborers, janitors, electricians, masons, plumbers, engineers, painters, curators… 32 buildings 17.4 million square feet (6x empire state building) 470 acres 24x7x365 operation Maintenance performed in house $600 m/year
