The Moon and humankind

The View on Universe Let’s start this presentation with a well known phrase said by a genius of physics, Einstein:”Two things are infinite, human stupidity and space.And about the second I am not so sure”.Let’s get over the first part, is the space infinite indeed? Or haven’t we discovered the means to explore it all? Are we as the Medieval people who compared the earth to a slice of bread, if you walked long enough, you would just fall for eternity.

Until now physicist and astro-physicist tell us that space is infinite, even that in some portions there is no solid matter, only vaccum.Just only some particles, as the photons,but they don’t stay stationary, they travel continuous. The human kind, form the very first moments of his existence, it only wanted to conquer more and to survive. After all, or the majority of Earth, was conquered by the humans, the only destination was the space. The first step was already taken. In the Cold War, the Russians created cheap, basic but very durable. And the Americans created expensive, high tech but easily destroyed.

To prove with country is more evolved, the finish was set in Space. There, were no human was ever been. They could see, but they could not touch, feel and study the soil. The closest object to the Earth was his natural satellite : the Moon. This will be the destination of the humankind, or just of the Russians and the Americans. At the date of 16 July 1969, after may failed attempts,both Russians and Americans, the first Lunar module. Form it descend on the lunar soil Neil Armstrong. He is the one who will remain in human history with the phrase: ”That’s one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for the mankind” The Russians had they’re successes in the Space also. They were the first to launch an animal in space, and a human. As Americans had Neil Armstrong, Russians had Laika and Gagarin.

The Emerging of the Universe The most known theory about the emerging of the Universe is the religious one. God would had created all the matter which is around us. But the scientist, for which proof is everything, they reached another conclusion. Every celestial object would had been formed from a big explosion, called Big Bang. Everything started from Hydrogen. A little Big Bang is happening in the kernel of a Star. The hydrogen combine and morph in Helium, Deuterium, Lithium.

Moon Facts The Solar System is composed of 8 planets. Pluto is no more a planet, but an asteroid. In the centre of the system it is the Sun, our source of light, energy and heat. Let’s focus on the first point the man ever landed, the Moon. The Moon is 4 times smaller than the Earth. The Gravitation is 6 times weaker than the one on Earth. The surface of the Moon is covered with craters. These craters formed when an meteorite or and asteroid hit the Lunar soil. They most probably hit the Earth at the beginning of the history of the Moon, when the Solar System was full of these formations. The biggest crater is called Bailey, and it has 295 km in length and is 3.96 km deep. We can also see volcanic craters, possibly from the time the Earth was forming. They form visible formations, such as seas. The biggest and the most known sea is Marea Imbrium (the Valley Rains) which has km in length. The biggest mountains are near the South Pole of the Moon and they have an approximate height of 6.1 km, comparable to Himalaya on Earth. Still, on the Moon there are no traces of water, but the scientists are positive.

Star-> Sun Planets and Satellites-> Mercury-Venus- Earth(Moon)-Mars(satelites)-Jupiter(satelites and rings)-Saturn(satellites and rings)- Uranus(s and r)-Neptune(s and r) Dwarf Planets-> Ceres – Pluton – Haumea – Makemake - Eris

Important Dates 31 Jan Luna 9 (URSS)- First Landing on the Moon. 20 July 1969 Apollo 11 Neil Armstrong-Aldrin- Collins First foot on the moon 30 July Apollo 15 Scott Irwin Worden The first use of a Lunar Module. 6 Jan Lunar Prospector Suggested the presence of water in polar regions.

A glorious Finish The first objective of the mankind was done! The first human landed on extraterrestrial soil. If now we can conquer the Moon. Make it suitable for our lives. We could jump-start our way to other planets. This is the only way.
