How did the Columbian Exchange Effect the Europeans and the Natives? Positive Effects Europeans got new foods which probably made them healthier. (potatoes, corn, peanuts, tomatoes, chocolate, peppers, squashes, and beans) Europeans probably made money selling goods Europeans (Columbus) brought cows, horses, pigs, wheat, barley, sugar. Harmful Effects Europeans cut down rain forests on the Carribbean islands to build sugar farms. Many plants and animals were destroyed. Many natives died because of the diseases the Europeans brought
