Nasi Kuning Aditya Shafiya A. Alika Atyanta Dania Rahmah Aisyah Pradantya H. Y. Puti Aliya Khalida
What’s “Nasi Kuning”? Nasi Kuning is an Indonesian (from Java) rice dish cooked with coconut milk and turmeric, hence the name nasi kuning (yellow rice). Might come in the form of a cone called a tumpeng and is usually eaten during special events. It is often served at parties and opening ceremonies as a symbol of good fortune, wealth and dignity. Usually served with a variety of side dishes such as shredded omelette, serundeng (relish of grated coconut and spices), urab (vegetable in shredded coconut dressing), fried anchovy and peanuts, fried tempeh and potato caramelized in spicy sauce, Javanese-style fried chicken shrimp in chilli, and potato fritters.
Ingredients coconut milk (±200ml) A tumeric (medium) 2 red onions 4 bay leaves 3 lemongrass Salt ± 7 tea spoon 2 fried chickens or gepuk chilli sauce "lalaban" (tomato, cucumber, basil, and lettuce) 4 eggs + salt (1/2 spoon) + vetcin (1/2 spoon) fried tempeh and potato caramelized in spicy sauce
What you need Banana leaf Tampah (a tray which is made from bamboo) Steamer Big frying pan
How To Make It? Wash the rice Chop the tumeric and chalots then blend it Put the rice on the pan Pour the blended chalots-tumeric and coconut milk into it Add 5 tea spoons of salt Add water until the rice sink, then boiled it. Put the bay leaves and lemongrass into it
While you wait the rice boiled, you can cook the shredded eggs and fry the chickens. Wash the “lalab” then dry it Cover the inside modler with the banana leaf (So the rice won’t stick with the molder. Put the ‘nasi kuning’ to the “tumpeng” molder, then put the molder onto the center of the ‘tampah’ Put the shredded eggs, fried chickens, ‘lalab’, around the tumpeng
