Club Chairs’ Survey Results 2014

Aim of the survey To gather some baseline data in order to assess our future performance To better assist the clubs in the future To find out whether the club development posts have made a difference to the clubs

Who took part? Club chairs from every club in county were asked to fill out this simple online survey This was backed up by the development groups to ensure that we got a response from as many clubs as possible

The Survey

The Results 85 clubs completed the survey which is approximately 84% of those clubs that are affiliated to Staffs Cricket A good North-South split 95% of clubs knew who their club and community development officer was 75% of clubs are getting the information from the development groups fed directly into their management meetings 96% of clubs see Staffordshire Cricket as a major lead in the development of cricket in the County

How do you receive updates from Staffordshire Cricket?

And how effective are these updates?

The clubs experience of support from Staffs Cricket

Club priorities over the next 12 months 1. Links with the local community 2. Reducing club bills 3. Access to better indoor facilities 4. Links with local schools 5. Better ways to utilise the clubs facilities

Club priorities over the next 5 years 1. Improved links with the local community 2. Better utilising club facilities 3. Reducing club bills 4. Improved links with local schools 5. In house fund raising

You said, we did! You said....that you need ideas and help in reducing your clubs bills We will:- Put this onto the development group agenda to prompt ideas from other clubs Arrange for a specialist energy provider to come along to a clubs forum to give positive steps to reduce these bills Provide regular communication to clubs about ways to gain funding with the overall aim of reducing bills

You said, we did! You said...that you want to get better links with your schools and the local community We will:- Give out a list of all schools and a suitable contact to each development group Ensure that all clubs are aware of the Chance to Shine programme and how they can be involved Aim to get the school games organiser to the development groups so that the clubs can better understand how to approach the schools Provide case studies each month in knot out of ways that clubs work with their local community to give others some inspiration

You said, we did! You said...that you would like ideas of how to better utilise your clubs facility We will:- Promote the ECB ‘Club Support’ website Provide a list of different ways that clubs use their facility during ‘down times’ Arrange a club forum to inspire clubs on the best ways to utilise their facility

You said, we did! You said...that the best way for us to help you is to provide regular support We will:- Arrange or continue to support 4 cricket development group meetings a year Aim to be in face to face contact with every club at least 4 times a year Aim to visit every club at least once a year

Our clubs said.... Excellent services supplied, always there at the end of the phone when needed (Cannock CC) Whitmore Reans CC has only been established for a few years. Without the support and guidance from the club development officer at Staffordshire Cricket our club would have folded. We would like to thank them for showing tolerance and support at crucial times (Whitmore Reans CC) We have had a lot of help from Staffordshire Cricket. Without that help we would be struggling to survive (Fenton CC) We have had more help in the last 9-12 months from our local Club & Community Development Officer than we had for a very long time (Smethwick CC)

.....but still some work to do! More support needed for clubs in the south of the county as Staffordshire Crickets work seems to be centred around Stoke and Stafford League structure needs to be re-thought so that staffs clubs play locally, not the farcical Birmingham league situation that involves miles of travel and expense, which ultimately loses players Just every now and again to get some face time at the club with our local rep, so communication is not just through one source, but other people in the club and on committee, know who you all are and how you can all support. Come and visit once a year and have a chat with everyone.
