2 Stoke-on-Trent Sports Summit 1 February 2008 At the original Summit, in July 2007, the agreed outcome was to work in partnership to increase participation in sport and physical activity

3 1.Developing the Facilities Infrastructure and Establishment of Effective Partnership Structures The Agreed Aims 1.To complete a comprehensive sports facility and playing pitch audit 2.To carry out an Options Appraisal on facility development and management 3.To develop a unique selling point for Stoke-on-Trent 4.To develop an effective partnership structure to deliver the City’s aspirations for sport and active recreation

4 1.Increased Participation in sport and physical activity from 16% to 30%. Sport and active recreation will contribute 3x30 mins (21% by 2012) per week to the 5x30 mins target 2.To seek to use the hosting of the 2012 games to inspire young people to take part in sport, and that every child between 14 and 16 attend a live 2012 event. 3.That high level sports events and athletes be used to inspire local people to take part, to increase the profile and image of the City and the pride of its citizens. 4.That activity through the workplace be investigated as a quick win in increasing participation 5.That consideration is given to a branded marketing campaign for participation in the context of the holistic area wide physical and community regeneration and improvement programme. 2.Developing a Participation Strategy for Priority Groups and How to Overcome Barriers The Agreed Aims
