2 The Boston Massacre Read pp (stop at “The Word Spreads”) After reading, does this sound like a “massacre”? Why/why not? Who do you think called it a “massacre”? Why?

3 Think about the answers to these questions as you view the image that follows: Was the artist a colonist or a British soldier? How can you tell? Does he/she agree that this was a massacre? What parts of the image give you that idea?

What words give it the “massacre” kind of feeling? Use the glossary to define propaganda in your Unit Vocabulary. Then discuss, how is this engraving propaganda?

6 Assignment On a blank sheet of computer paper, create a drawing that someone with the opposing viewpoint may have drawn as propaganda. Think about… How the colonists would appear How the British soldiers would appear Underneath or on the back of your drawing, describe the scene you drew. Why did you draw certain things the way you did? How does it display the viewpoint opposed to Paul Revere’s?
