7 Profile of the companies I surveyed   The majority have between 1,000 and 10,000 employees   Almost all offer paid sabbaticals   Most of the sabbatical programs are between 3 and 8 weeks long   100% require that employees be with the company for a minimum of three years before qualifying for a sabbatical

8 “Best of” sabbatical policies Timberland: Up to 6 months paid time off to make a “positive long-term change in our communities.” Autodesk: A 6-week paid sabbatical every 4 years of service. “This is an opportunity to travel or spend quality time with your family and friends while getting well- deserved rest and relaxation.” Arrow Electronics: After seven years with the company, employees are eligible for a paid sabbatical for up to 10 weeks
