Parts of a Friendly Letter First Grade Standard:
Five Parts of a Letter O The Heading O The Greeting O The Body O The Closing O The Signature
Heading n Heading ---> 455 East Main Street Morristown, Tn January 6, 2009 n The heading of a letter should contain the return address, which includes the street address on one line, followed by the city, state and zip code on the next line. The third line is the date.
Greeting Dear Chris, <--- Greeting Dear Chris, <--- Greeting n The greeting means “hello”. Usually, all of the words, which are a part of the greeting, are capitalized. A comma follows the greeting.
Body O Thank you so much for the beautiful sweater for my birthday.…… Body---> O The body of the letter contains the main text or message. Each paragraph should be indented.
Closing n Closing ---> Sincerely, The closing means “good-bye”. The first word of the closing begins with a capital letter. A comma follows the closing
Signature n Signature ---> Randi Sonon The signature tells who wrote the letter.
