1 Development of Sanitary Landfill and Capping of Existing Dump site at Mysore.

2 Project concept Mysore being mission city of JnNURM, GoK opted development of MSW project on PPP (BOT) model. JnNURM grant of Rs.11 Crores has been sanctioned by CSMC of JnNURM, MoUD, GoI. Through open bidding JUSCO Ltd. has been selected as BOT operators. Agreement between JUSCO & MCC was signed on 1st July, 2010.

3 DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Name of the Project: Build, Operate ,Maintain & Transfer of MSW Disposal facility for Mysore City Corporation, Mysore. Scope of Work: Establish an Engineered Landfill facility, capping of existing garbage dump & Development of Infrastructure facilities. Operation & Maintenance: 13.8 years every day operation & Closer of Sanitary Landfill (SLF). Maintenance of post closure SLF up to 10 years .

4 CAPPING OF EXISTING GARBAGE
The entire existing garbage is organized in to two various locations. Closer No:1 (Seven acre)- where the large quantity of garbage is dumped since many years. Closer No:2 (Five acre)- to develop new capping area.

5 SALIENT FEATURES OF CAPPING
Closer No:2 (Five acre): Provide HDPE bottom liner Organise garbage in trapezoidal shape with side slope of 1V:3H. Provide impervious layer of 600mm thick ( permeability 1X cm/sec) Provide 450 mm thick top vegetative soil Provide Gas vent system using HDPE pipes and filter media Leachate collection system Closer No:1 (Seven acre): Organise garbage in trapezoidal shape with side slope of 1V:3H. Providing top impervious layer of 600mm thick ( permeability 1X cm/sec) Provide 450 mm thick top vegetative soil Provide Gas vent system using HDPE pipes and filter media Leachate collection system

6 Components of Landfill
Impervious bottom liners Leachate Collection and Removal System Leachate Treatment Plant Storm Water Drainage Gas vent and flaring system

7 DEVELOPMENT OF LANDFILL
Steps of developing SLF Excavation of land with slope of 1V:3H Providing multiple bottom liner of GCL, HDPE, Drainage media & Leachate collection network. Construction of Leachate Treatment Plant. Capping, Gas vent System & Vegetation. Post maintenance.

10 SALIENT FEATURES OF THE LTP
Sl. No. Particulars of treatment units Dimension in Mts. Compliance and remarks 1. Leachate collection tank The design is carried out considering the total leachate collected from SLF and both the capping areas ( cum per day ). 2. Anaerobic reactor i.e. UASB with gas vent system connected to flare stack. 4.0x2.7x2.5 3. Aeration tank with surface aerator 5 HP. 5.0x3.0x2.7 4. Settling tank with hopper bottom. 3.0x2.8 5. Sludge drying beds – 2 Nos. 2.0x2.0x2.5

12 ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SYSTEM
Ambient air and Ground water quality before and after operation will be monitored regularly. Monitoring bore wells Buffer zone around the project area will be developed with necessary plantations. Rain water harvesting will be implemented. Laboratory facilities. Environmental Engineer will monitor the SLF activities.

13 PRESENT STATUS OF PROJECT
Old garbage of about 4.50 lakhs cum has been reorganized in 7 & 5 acre capping area. Providing clay and vegetative liners above compacted waste is completed. Excavation of landfill for 1st phase in 9.2 acres is completed. Laying of GCL,HDPE, Drainage layers and Geo-textile& soil for first cell completed. Development of infrastructural facilities are completed.

14 The 1st cell sanitary landfill site is constructed in an area of 2
The 1st cell sanitary landfill site is constructed in an area of 2.5 acres by digging a pit of size 80X110X3.5 mts. The filling of compost rejects for the first cell sanitary land fill site will enable to fill 45,000 MT of compost rejects at the rate of 90 TPD and they proposed to fill and complete the first cell in 1 1/2 years time. The closure plan of sanitary land fill site includes the covering of the cell by clay and soil media above which vegetative cover with gas vent and storm water collection system. Overall this firm can handle 1,35,000 MT of compost rejects in phase manner.
