How might it relate to AVID?

7 AVID Wednesday, Sept. 17 AGENDA:  Bell Work: Creating Questions  Share out  Learning Logs  Binder Check on Friday  Homework Bell Work Please make sure you grabbed handouts from the front table! 1.Write 3 questions (one of each level) about something you are learning in one of your classes. 2.Make sure you are using the appropriate terms from yesterday’s COSTA’S LEVELS OF QUESTIONING handout. 3.Be prepared to share them with the class!

Remember—first vocab quiz tomorrow.

9 English 1-2 Thurs., Sept. 18 AGENDA:  Bell work  Listen to audio of TMDG  Fill in Plot Diagram and vocab definitions Bell Work Pick up an orange textbook Write 3-4 sentences responding to the following prompt: On pg. 48, Zaroff says, “Instinct is no match for reason.” What do you think is a more valuable attribute (trait or characteristic)—instinct or reason? Why?

10 AVID Thursday, Sept. 18 AGENDA:  Bell Work: writing response  Share out  Learning Logs  Binder Check on Friday 8-10 minute writing response What are some valuable things you’ve learned or experienced so far this year? Think about the following categories: academics, sports, social life, home life, responsibility and organization. Remember…not all learning experiences are enjoyable! What else do you hope to learn or experience this year? Give reasons why.

11 English 3-4 Fri., Sept. 19 AGENDA:  Writing assignment instructions  Vocab Quiz  Work on alternate ending / sequel writing assignment, DUE MONDAY Bell Work Clear your desk of everything but something to write with AND something to cover your answers with, if you wish.

12 English 1-2 Fri., Sept. 19 AGENDA:  Listen to Mr. Coker’s presentation  Go to the library and work on assignment  REMINDER: Vocab quiz Monday! Bell Work Please clear your table area of everything but a half-sheet of paper and something to write with. Be prepared to listen to our Student Librarian Mr. Coker (just kidding, you’re listening to Ms. McAllister!) and to jot down a few notes as he speaks.

13 AVID Friday, Sept. 19 AGENDA:  Group photo  Binder checks  Getting to Know You Game Please have your binders and your binder-check rubrics in front of you. When you are sitting quietly with your supplies, I will know you are ready to quickly go outside for our group photo.

14 AVID: On the notecard I give you, write 3 things (but NOT your name). Your classmates will be reading these.  1. Somewhere that you’ve travelled  2. Your favorite food to eat or cook  3. Your favorite TV show, movie, or book
