2  Cable is mechanically unstable, 40 x 0.7 mm dia. strand, 14.95 mm wide.  PC01 had >5 popped strands on each layer, roped twice.  MBH01 had 7 inner & 5 outer popped strands, roped 4 times  Binder was used to repair each popped strand.  MBH02 had 3 documented popped strands (DR)  Implemented new procedure to use binder on each end turn during MBH02 and all subsequent coils.  MBH03 had no popped strands.  MBH04 had 1 popped strand due to process mistake; binder was not fully cured. Cable manufactured at CERN.  All subsequent coils (MBH05-11) had no popped strands.  Cable mid-thickness reduced  packing factor increased  Stainless steel core added 10/3/201311 T Dipole Coil End Turns w/Binder2

8  11 Tesla Dipole cable is difficult to wind over the ends.  CTD-1202x binder provided mechanical support to the cable during winding of the ends providing a dramatic reduction of popped strands.  Negligible size increase due to binder.  CERN’s 11 T coils using CTD-1202x binder on every turn have had no popped strands.
