Arts-Integrated Developmental Workbook Reflection Stages (Plastic portfolio cases) Inquiry- question that drives project forward and is interest to you. Sense- Use your own research to learn and understand to develop further ideas for your final work of creation Plan-Document strategies that will help you create your work Create-Make artwork that relates to your inquiry and concept. Sharing knowledge in media (photos & video) Evaluate-Assess your own learning. What did you learn and what evidence for how you learned? Reflect-What does it mean? Write a reflection about your inquiry question
IB Design Cycle Stages Investigate Brain Storming Research Methods Social & environmental impacts Recognize the technology Historical & cultural implications Specific situational needs Attitudes about it AOI implications
Design Sketch/write up multiple possible ways of creating the product Measure against design specifications Ways to improve the design of product Justification for final design choice
Plan Managing Time & Resources Review Plan What will your piece look like Who will be doing what
Create Product/Solution Choose methods & tools Follow plan (journal) Adjust as necessary Work cooperatively Adapt to new ideas Follow a schedule
DAY 5: What will day 8 (Last day) look like? Day 8 will be group presentations day Each group is to design a power point presentation using the text info from the IB Design Cycle or plastic binder reflection pages. Each power point slide must incorporate pictures & video of your group working,planning/discussing, encountering- solving problems. The final slide should incorporate a video IB reflection as a group with each member input. Minimum slides 7
What should the Power Point look like? Using Plastic Binder Questions-As a group Slide 1-Team picture with title/photo of invention Slide 2-Inquiry-IBMYP question information- “How has technology changed & impacted us over time”. In addition, why did you select your project topic? How do you plan on improving the original design of project Slide 3-Sense- info research info/pics of inventor/invention Slide 4-Plan- info about your steps/sketch pic (scan it save jpg) Slide 5-Create-Building process/problems & solutions (pics working together) Slide 6-Evaluate-What did you learn? Picture of finished product. Include survey of team working together at surveymonkey.com Slide 7-Reflect-What did you learn about your inquiry questions from this project? Plus other questions in binder. In addition, you must include a reflection piece on how the technology you selected effects people/society/environment/economy in general whether it be positive or a negative effect. Please be specific and give an example. Include a self video for this last slide on the reflection component.
What about IB Design Cycle Research Report? You may use the same information from the Power Point and just incorporate it in to your group typed IB Design Cycle report. Just replace the binder portfolio stages with the IB Design Cycle stages. Both are very similar. Don’t forget to include pictures of your group working, sketch and finished product. Report due Jan. 19-26, 2011.
What are we doing this week on days 5 & 6? Day 5 & 6 you are to be creating/building your project. Bring in your materials to work in class! You will also be reflecting on these days by completing a quick survey at the end of class. Obtain feedback from other people besides your own group. Reminder every student is responsible for completing writing/typing for each page within the portfolio binder along with including pictures/samples/research/reflections/and any other surveys etc. Plastic Portfolio Binder-Individual student due Jan 12 Power Point-Binder Question-Group due Jan 12 IB Design Cycle Typed Report-Group due Jan 19-26
