Cementitious Wood Fiber Decks and Interior Products

Tectum Is… A cementitious wood fiber product that provides structural integrity and a durable acoustical finish Comprised of Aspen Wood Fibers and a cementitious binder Produced by rolling dried Aspen Wood Fibers through a continuous heated press and spraying with a cementitious binder

Sustainable Ingredients Aspen is harvested by American Excelsior Company, from new growth forests in Wisconsin American Excelsior Company is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiatives (SFI) Program

Sustainable Ingredients Magnesium oxide, obtained from sea water, is mixed with Magnesium sulfate (Epsom Salt) to form the primary binder which is recycled on- site The secondary binder is composed of sodium silicate and calcium carbonate (limestone) All water used in the manufacture of Tectum is captured and recycled

Tectum Design Properties Noise Reduction Coefficients (NRC) up to.80 Can be painted 6 times with no reduction of NRC Allowed in non-combustible construction UL Class 90 and FM 1-90 Wind Uplift Tested Listed by all major building codes Spans up to 8’ Diaphragm tests conducted in accordance to ASTM E455, with values up to 786 lbs/lf Tectum is a GREEN product made from recycled and renewable resources and qualifies for points under the LEEDS program

Tectum & LEED Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Credit 1: Optimized Energy Performance – Tectum Composite Panels provide high R-values Materials & Resources (MR) Credits 2.1 & 2.2: Construction Site Waste Management – Tectum products are typically cut-to-length at the factory reducing field cuts and waste. Tectum products are shipped without boxing or excessive packaging. Tectum products are biodegradable and can be composted or used for soil amendment MR Credits 4.1 & 4.2: Recycled Content – Tectum products have recycled content ranging from 11%-40% by value MR Credit 7: Certified Wood – Tectum products are made from harvesting new growth Aspen Wood and is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Ceritified Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) Prerequisite 3: Minimum Acoustical Performance (LEED for Schools) -Tectum products offer a durable, low maintenance cost acoustical solution

Tectum & LEED EQ Credit 3.1 & 3.2: Construction IAQ Plans – Tectum products can be field painted, but painting is not required for use and Tectum does not need to be primed EQ Credit 4.1 & 4.4: Low Emitting Materials, Adhesives & Sealants/ Composite Wood & Agrifiber Products – Tectum products do not contain VOC’s or Urea Formaldehyde EQ Credit 10: Mold Prevention (LEED for Schools) - Tectum products do not support the growth of mold or bacteria EQ Credit 11: Low Impact Cleaning and Maintenance Equipment Policy (LEED for Schools) – Tectum products are extremely abuse resistant and intended to last the life of the building. Tectum can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or broom and do not require special cleaning supplies

Tectum’s Carbon Footprint Steel Deck Tectum

Tectum’s Carbon Footprint Tectum requires approximately 600 BTU’s of energy per square foot of material produced Steel decking requires approximately 12,000 BTU’s of energy per square foot of material produced Tectum is 20 times more energy efficient to produce than steel, reducing the need for fossil fuels and the CO2 produced by burning them BTU’s of Energy Energy Consumption per Square Foot of Material Produced

Tectum is produced from new growth Aspen harvested every 15-20 yearsTectum is produced from new growth Aspen harvested every 15-20 years After harvesting, Aspen Trees regenerate from existing root systemsAfter harvesting, Aspen Trees regenerate from existing root systems Aspen fix carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, reducing green house gasesAspen fix carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, reducing green house gases One ton of lumber used in construction results in the release of 30 kg of carbon and the storage of 250 kg of carbonOne ton of lumber used in construction results in the release of 30 kg of carbon and the storage of 250 kg of carbon One ton of steel used in construction results in the release of 700 kg of carbon and the storage of 0 kg of carbonOne ton of steel used in construction results in the release of 700 kg of carbon and the storage of 0 kg of carbon Tectum’s Carbon Footprint

Tectum Roof Deck Products Composite Panels  Tectum E  Tectum III Plank/Long Span Plank Tile

Tectum E Composite Panels Expanded polystyrene insulation is more economical Spans up to 8’ R-values up to 34 Well suited for shingles, standing seam, slate, tile, single- ply, or built-up roofing

Tectum III Composite Panels Styrofoam provides a built- in vapor barrier Spans up to 8’ R-values up to 43 Well suited for shingles, standing seam, slate, tile, single-ply, or built-up roofing Tectum III Panel with Styrofoam core Styrofoam Spline Caulk

Tectum Plank and LS Plank Tongue and groove joint provides support out to 4’ Long span steel channel allows spans out to 6’ Beveled edges create a clean linear look from the underside Makes a great substrate for insulating concrete

Tectum Tile Rabbeted edges rest on bulb tee flange Makes an excellent form for concrete Can span up to 11’ Makes a great substrate for insulating concrete
