Yes – however there are different levels within the programme. 1/ The full diploma programme – in which 3 higher, 3 standard and all core elements are completed. 2/ The shortened programme in which some of the academic subjects may change to standard level but all core elements are still covered. In this case Certificates are obtained for each subject. DOES EVERYONE ENTER THE DIPLOMA PROGRAMME?
In general, score at least a 4 in each subject, or 24 points or more in total. Will 24 points guarantee a Diploma? – Even if you have more than 28 points there are conditions in which you will not gain a Diploma. HOW CAN I ACHIEVE THE DIPLOMA? Ms Vicky
Mr Darryl The aim is to obtain a diploma, however a certificate is still an immense achievement and can lead on to further education possibilities. Just make sure that you do not get a certificate when you really should have got a diploma.
Assessment is based solely on two pieces of work: 1) The ToK Essay on a prescribed title (1200-1600 words). 2) The ToK Group Presentation (approx. 10 minutes per student). This is supervised and assessed by a teacher in the school. The final grade is then sent to the IB.
