textbox center Good Wife, Good Life Proverbs 31:10-31
textbox center A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is like a gold ring in a pigs snout. Proverbs 11:22
textbox center 1. Second only to wisdom, a good (strong) wife is to be sought after.
textbox center A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:10-12
textbox center A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones. Proverbs 12:4
textbox center 1. Second only to wisdom, a good (strong) wife is to be sought after. 2. Men need to be yoked to good women.
textbox center A foolish son is ruin to his father, and a wife’s quarreling is a continual dripping of rain. Proverbs 19:13
textbox center A continual dripping on a rainy day and a contentious woman are alike; to restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in his right hand. Proverbs 27:15-16
textbox center It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman. Proverbs 21:9
textbox center It is better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife. Proverbs 21:19
textbox center Like a bird that wonders from its nest, is a man who strays from his home. Proverbs 27:8
textbox center King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods,
textbox center and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been… 7 On a hill east of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable god of Moab, and for Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites. He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods. The Lord became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other
textbox center gods, Solomon did not keep the Lord’s command. So the Lord said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.” 1 Kings 11:1-13
textbox center Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:29-30
textbox center Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer—may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man’s wife. Proverbs 5:15-20
