Monday morning, March 31, 2003
at Duck, NC on the Outer Banks.
US Army Corps of Engineers Web Cam at Duck, NC, March 31. Note the seagulls on the beach.
We met these seagulls and fed them peanuts.
Among the seagulls which vied for food,
was a seagull who was especially agile at catching our tidbits in mid-air.
He was more persistent than any of the others.
We named him Wilbur.
In fact, the other seagulls seemed to give him deference, allowing him to glean the most. It was a lesson from wildlife in Christian charity!
When these photos were shared with a recent widow,
she perceived strength from God through Wilbur.
Losing her husband was like she had lost one of her legs. She received stamina and succor from seeing Wilbur stand composed and straight on one leg.
If God could help Wilbur amidst his trials, surely God would give her the strength that she needs to persevere.
Matthew 6: I tell you this: Do not worry about your life. Do not worry about what you are going to eat and drink. Do not worry about what you are going to wear. Is not life more important than food? Is not the body more important than clothes?
Look at the birds in the sky. They do not plant seeds. They do not gather grain. They do not put grain into a building to keep. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them!
Are you not more important than the birds?
