4. Pre-deployment Design: DELOS docking station design minimises seafloor disturbance during servicing. Instruments are fixed onto ROV removable modules so all instruments are returned to exact same location. Platform on legs to minimise disturbance from eddies near the seafloor. Maintenance/service issues: There is one spare set of instruments. If any instrument cannot be fixed/replaced during service, there is a 12 month delay. Calibration: Instruments that cannot be calibrated onboard are taken onshore for servicing at 2 year intervals. On the field Oceanographic data are saved as ascii files ADCP and scanned sonar require commercial proprietary viewing software Digital stills and audio files All raw data stored on USB hard drives.
