Are u frustrated yet? Have we answered the question? WHAT IS LOVE? Therefore the conclusion I (Pastor Ben) have come to is…
There is no such thing as Love!
Ok! Relax! That’s not what I mean… There is no such ONE thing called Love... Love cannot be defined by itself… alone, it does not exist. Love is an all-encompassing term for everything that we have tried to use in order to define Love…
Love is Patient. When you are patient with someone, you are loving that person. Love is Kind. When you are kind to someone, you are loving that person.
Love is Not Envious/Proud. When you are humble, you are showing love. Love is Not Arrogant/Rude. When you are polite, you are showing love.
LOVE cannot exist in a vacuum. When you Love… you have to love SOMEONE, SOMETHING… It is YOU in relation to SOMETHING.
GOD is LOVE! How can we say that? Because God is the PERFECTION of LOVE. Only God can give PERFECT JOY PERFECT PEACE PERFECT PATIENCE PERFECT KINDNESS PERFECT GOODNESS PERFECT FAITHFULNESS PERFECT GENTLENESS PERFECT SELF-CONTROL
GOD is LOVE! Only God can show PERFECT FORGIVENESS PERFECT MERCY PERFECT GRACE Because that is what God showed when Jesus came and died for us on the cross.
When Jesus hung on the cross… He said (before his crucifixion) “Not my will but Yours be done.” – obedience. He exclaimed, “Father! Forgive them for they know not what they do.” – forgiveness.
When the Father turned away from Jesus, it signalled that EVEN God had abandoned him. Yet he STAYED on the cross… He had a choice. He was God. He could have said It’s not worth it and come down. Thereby condemning us to eternal death. But he stayed. FAITHFULNESS
He CHOSE to stay… It is GOD in relation to YOU. It is GOD showing LOVE for YOU. What is your response to Him?
