Word of the Day Week Two and Three Vocabulary for the short story, The Stone by Lloyd Alexander
delved Verb (1) Dug None of his tools delved as well as they had done. (2) Searched The scientist delved for the answer to the mysterious UFO sighting.
Which definition goes with each example? He took his shovel and delved in the soil. The girl delved into the math book for the right answer. The pirate delved for the treasure map lost on the ship. Once he found location of the treasure, he delved into the sand.
gaped Verb To stare with the mouth open, as in wonder or surprise Mario gaped as the homerun baseball was caught by his little sister.
