The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

CONFESSION AND DECLARATION OF GRACE

52 Friends in Christ: Let us draw near to God our Father with a true heart to confess our sins, and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us. Our help is in the name of the Lord. He made heaven and earth. I said, I will confess my sins to the Lord. Then he forgave the guilt of my sin.

53 P: Almighty God, our maker and redeemer, we confess to you that by nature we are sinful and unclean, and that we have sinned against you by thought, word, and deed. Therefore we flee for refuge to your infinite mercy and plead for your grace for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.

54 C. Most merciful God, you have given your only Son to die for us. Have mercy on us, and for his sake grant us forgiveness of all our sins. By your Holy Spirit increase our knowledge of you and your will, and make us obedient to your word, so that by your grace we may come to eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

55 Almighty God, our heavenly Father, has had mercy on us, and has given his only Son to die for us, and for his sake forgives us all our sins. To those who believe in his name he has given the right to become children of God, and has given them his Holy Spirit. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved. Grant this, Lord, to us all. Amen.

Your Offering for the Work of the Lord will now be received

3.Some day when this life is over, We’ll stand in heaven together. Till then I ask you just to help me on my way, Point me to Jesus and tell me he cares.

4.One in the faith that unites us, One in the Lord who has saved us, One in the hope of life with Jesus our King, One family, together we stay evermore.  ©1975 Geoff Strelan Used by permission

God Gave Fathers To Protect us {Tune: Hyfrydol (LHS 164) }

God gave fathers to protect us, and to guide us in love’s way. They stood by us from our cradle, teaching us to watch and pray. Precious Saviour, bless our fathers; or our fathers’ memory. Precious Saviour, help us honour those who gave us love so free.

As we grew they stayed beside us, listening, loving constantly. They spoke to us words of wisdom, though, at times, so hard to see. Precious Saviour, bless our fathers; or our fathers’ memory. Precious Saviour, help us honour those who taught us how to be.

(This verse may be sung by fathers who are present) Now as fathers, Lord, we ask you be our helper and our guide. Give us courage, bless our efforts, let us live love deep and wide. Precious Saviour, keep us faithful. teaching, leading, loving, true. Precious Saviour, thanks for children; they are precious to you too.

Give them joy in their work and in their family life, and let them rejoice with you in what you have created and given for their enjoyment. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
