One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. (3:1-2)

Background Time:3 pm People:Peter, John, and a man lame from birth Place:Beautiful Gate Situation:The 3 met

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. (4-5)

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you...” (6)

“In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (6)

Principle You can only give what you have! You cannot give what you don’t have!

Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. (7)

He jumped to his feet and began to walk. (8)

Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. (8)

When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. (9-10)

While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade. (11)

Peter’s 2 nd Message Power in the Name of Jesus Faith in the Name of Jesus Repentance in the Name of Jesus

But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand. (4:4)

I’d Rather Have Jesus I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold; I’d rather be His than have riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands; I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

I’d Rather Have Jesus Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today.

I’d Rather Have Jesus I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause; I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause; I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame; I’d rather be true to His holy name

I’d Rather Have Jesus Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today.

I’d Rather Have Jesus He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom; He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb; He’s all that my hungering spirit needs; I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

I’d Rather Have Jesus Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything This world affords today.
