ICEL 408 O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL, Joyful and triumphant, O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold Him, Born the King of angels; Tr Frederick Oakeley, altd

ICEL O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

ICEL God of God, Light of light, Lo, He abhors not the virgin’s womb; Very God, Begotten, not created:

ICEL O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

ICEL Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above; Glory to God In the highest:

ICEL O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

ICEL 438 ONCE, IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY ONCE, IN ROYAL DAVID’S CITY, Stood a lowly cattle shed, Where a mother laid her baby In a manger for His bed. Mary was that mother mild, Jesus Christ, her little child. Cecil F Alexander

ICEL He came down to earth from heaven, Who is God and Lord of all, And His shelter was a stable, And His cradle was a stall: With the poor and meek and lowly Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

ICEL And through all His wondrous childhood He would honour and obey, Love and watch the lowly mother In whose gentle arms He lay. Christian children all should be Mild, obedient, good as He.

ICEL For He is our childhood’s pattern: Day by day like us He grew; He was little, weak and helpless; Tears and smiles like us He knew: And He feeleth for our sadness, And He shareth in our gladness.

ICEL And our eyes at last shall see Him Through His own redeeming love; For that child, so dear and gentle, Is our Lord in heaven above; And He leads His children on To the place where He is gone.

ICEL Not in that poor lowly stable, With the oxen standing by, We shall see Him, but in heaven, Set at God’s right hand on high; When like stars His children crowned, All in white shall wait around.

ICEL Luke 2:1-7 – Jesus’ Birth 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

ICEL Luke 2:1-7 – Jesus’ Birth 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

ICEL Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

ICEL Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

ICEL Luke 2,8-20 – Shepherds 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

ICEL 602 WHILE SHEPHERDS WATCHED While shepherds watched their flocks by night, All seated on the ground, The angel of the Lord came down And glory shone around. Nahum Tate

ICEL ‘Fear not’ said he, for mighty dread Had seized their troubled mind; ‘Glad tidings of great joy I bring To you and all mankind.

ICEL ‘To you in David’s town this day Is born of David’s line A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, And this shall be the sign. ‘The heavenly babe you there shall find To human view displayed, All meanly wrapped in swaddling bands, And in a manger laid.’

ICEL Thus spake the seraph; and forthwith Appeared a shining throng Of angels, praising God, who thus Addressed their joyful song: ‘All glory be to God on high And on the earth be peace; Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men Begin and never cease.’

ICEL God kent jou vanaf het begin. Helemaal van buiten en van binnenin. Hij kent al je vreugde en al je verdriet. Want Hij ziet de dingen die een ander niet ziet. God knows you from the very beginning, Completely inside and out. He knows all your joys and all your sorrows. Because He sees things that others can't see.

ICEL En weet je wat zo mooi is? Bij Jezus voel je je vrij om helemaal jezelf te zijn. Want Hij houdt van jou. Ja Hij houdt van jou. Jezus houdt van jou en mij. And you know what's so great? With Jesus you can feel free to just be yourself. Because He loves you, Yes He loves you, Jesus loves you and me.

ICEL 36 AWAY IN A MANGER AWAY IN A MANGER, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head; The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay; The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. Verses 1 & 2 unknown Verse 3 J T McFarland

ICEL The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes, But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes: I love You, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky And stay by my side until morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus: I ask You to stay Close by me forever and love me, I pray; Bless all the dear children in Your tender care, And fit us for heaven to live with You there.

ICEL 251 IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT IT CAME UPON THE MIDNIGHT CLEAR, That glorious song of old, From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold: ‘Peace on the earth, goodwill to men From heaven’s all gracious King!’ The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing. E H Sears

ICEL Still through the cloven skies they come, With peaceful wings unfurled, And still their heavenly music floats O’er all the weary world: Above its sad and lowly plains They bend on hovering wing, And ever o’er its Babel sounds The blessèd angels sing.

ICEL Yet with woes of sin and strife The world has suffered long, Beneath the angel-strain have rolled Two thousand years of wrong; And man, at war with man, hears not The love-song which they bring: O hush the noise, ye men of strife, And hear the angels sing.

ICEL For lo! the days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold, When with the ever-circling years Comes round the age of gold; When peace shall over all the earth Its ancient splendours fling, And all the world send back the song Which now the angels sing.

ICEL Isaiah 9:2,6-7 The people who walked in darkness 2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. […] […] 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

ICEL Isaiah 9:2,6-7 The people who walked in darkness 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.

ICEL 314 JOY TO THE WORLD! JOY TO THE WORLD! the Lord has come; Let earth receive her King. Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven, and heaven and nature sing! Isaac Watts

ICEL Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns; Your sweetest songs employ. While fields and streams and hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat the sounding joy!

ICEL He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, The wonders of His love, The wonders, the wonders of His love.

ICEL John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.

ICEL John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

ICEL John1:1-14 – Jesus, light of the world 12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

ICEL 498 SILENT NIGHT SILENT NIGHT, holy night! Sleeps the world; hid from sight, Mary and Joseph in stable bare Watch o’er the Child beloved and fair, Sleeping in heavenly rest, Sleeping in heavenly rest. Joseph Mohr Tr S A Brooke

ICEL Silent night, holy night! Shepherds first saw the light, Heard resounding clear and long, Far and near, the angel-song: ‘Christ the Redeemer is here, Christ the Redeemer is here.’

ICEL Silent night, holy night! Son of God, O how bright Love is smiling from Thy face! Strikes for us now the hour of grace, Saviour, since Thou art born, Saviour, since Thou art born.
