Do you know about the Mojave Indians, a California native American tribe. The Mojave lived from Arizona toMexico. They lived along sides of the river banks. The Mojave has other tribes near the pacific coast. The Mojave also lived in the deserts The climate was hot. The mojave Indians are intersting. I will tell you about the crafts, food, homes, celebration, jobs, clothing and some intersting facts.
The Mojave homes are cool. Before the Mojaves had to build their homes, they had to dig a pit. In summer they slept under open sided brush shelters. They had to get poles to make a house. And had to put leaves to make a flat roof. In winter they slept with homes with walls.
Have you ever tasted Mojave food? The Mojave practiced fishing fish. They hunted deer, rabbit, ground squirrels birds and lizards. The Mojave also fished other fish such as mullets, humpback, and skitters. The Mojave ate beans, corn and pumpkin
Do the Mojave men, women and children work ? The men threw boomerangs to kill the rabbits. The men couth fish with hooks and hand woven nets. They spent hours making nets women and men often plant plants. Children fished and hunted with the men.
What did the Mojave wear and what did they use to make clothing? The Mojave trapped animals to make clothing. They hunted deer skin and other animal skin. Women wore skirts and men wore long breech cloth. They didn’t wear much clothing because it was hot. On coled days they wore deer skin and rabbit skin.
What did the Mojave do during the ceremony? They had celebrations when someone died. When somebody past away they would sing a song. The only people to lead the ceremony were the people that had strength.
What type of crafts do Mojave do? The baskets were used for caring corn meals. Men attached a long wooden pole to make a handle. They made huts, baskets that could hold water, and store food. Men wove baskets and nets for fishing. Men wove cone shaped baskets. The woman wove water tights storage baskets.
Did you know they used cactus as needles to make tattoos. They mixed two Indian words to make one. The Mojave believed performing will bring fourth rain. The Mojave poked them selves with cactus as needles to make tattos.
The Mojave was an interesting California native American. I hope they keep there colony strong.
