1 Sat 2 nd October 14:00 To 15:30. Outside Leeds Art Gallery Say No To The Damaging and Devastating Cuts The country is in crisis. Standards of living and household income have dropped considerably since the CONDEM government threw our public services on the scrap heap. With the announced cuts, things will just start to get worse as Cameron’s big society tries to mask attacks on jobs with volunteer work. Tens of thousands of public sector workers will find themselves out of a job. As a knock on effect, the private companies that various parts of the public sector outsource to will be getting less and less work meaning more redundancies all round. Naturally the newly un-employed will look to local and national government for support in getting back to work and looking after themselves. Of course they won’t find it as the job cuts will have crippled the civil service, who will be providing little or no support to those who need it. It will be too busy desperately scraping together what funding it has left to offer overtime, in a futile attempt to clear the backlog of work that was caused by mass redundancies in the first place. This viewpoint isn’t a dystopian fictional future. This is the reality of what we face once Cable and his cohorts have finished scrapping all of the hard work people like you and me have been doing to create a better society, not a “Big society”. If you agree with what you’ve been reading and want to join a gathering of like- minded people to protest the savage attacks Cameron and Co. are putting into motion against the hard working people of Britain then please come and join in our protest, which has been organised by PCS Y&H YMN & YFFJ as part of Young Workers Week. Speakers Include: PCS YMN, YFFJ, UNISON, Leeds Against Cuts, Leeds Uni Against Cuts and Revolution Say No To The Damaging and Devastating Cuts The country is in crisis.
