Historia de Argentina Around 10,000 B.C., there were approximatly 20 indigenous groups living in the area that is today Argentina. Historia de Argentina Between 1857 & 1939 3.5 million people immigrated to Argentina from Italy, Spain, Germany, English, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Syria and many more places. By 1914, 30% of the Argentinean population was born in another country. From 1976-1983, Argentina was under military rule. Today, Argentina has a democratic government
Immigrant Influence Spanish spoken in Argentina is very different from that of Spain. Each region has its own dialect Argentine Spanish is also heavily influenced by Italian. People often greet each other with the Italian buongiorno rather than buenos días and will say ciao for goodbye. The Tú form is rarely used and is replaced by the Argentine vos. Another completely unique language is called lufardo, a mix of many immigrant languages build around castellono, which allows people of diverse backgrounds to communicate.
