INTERNT Norsk Hydro`s Azep prosess– Advanced Zero Emission Power Presentation 23.04.2003 Arne Anundskås Norsk Hydro Presentation 23.04.2003 Arne Anundskås Norsk Hydro
ArAn - Dato: 2003-04-15 - Side: 2 INTERNT O&E FSP Porsgrunn Gas Power with CO 2 Capture: The challenge Disadvantages of existing technologies Large plants Loss of efficiency; 12 - 18% less electricity output or higher gas consumption Expensive Challenge with retrofit (mainly pre-combustion) Hazardous waste generation (mainly post-combustion) Courtesy: Statoil
ArAn - Dato: 2003-04-15 - Side: 3 INTERNT O&E FSP Porsgrunn Cost for CO2 capture and sequestration has to be reduced Optimistic
ArAn - Dato: 2003-04-15 - Side: 4 INTERNT O&E FSP Porsgrunn AZEP – Advanced Zero Emission Power Joint development (EU FP5) project: Alstom Power and Norsk Hydro Conventional Gas Turbine System Membrane based Gas Turbine System Oxy-fuel concept with potential for 100 % CO 2 - capture and virtually zero NO x -emission. Very low efficiency penalty (2-4 %), compared with conventional gas turbine combined cycle power generation. No GT technology development required other than AZEP reactor-GT hook- up/integration. CCP project has rated AZEP as one of the most promising new concepts for NG-based CO 2 -capture.
ArAn - Dato: 2003-04-15 - Side: 10 INTERNT O&E FSP Porsgrunn Alternative Azep concepts MCM reactor with NG fired afterburner Improve efficiency at reduced (80-90 %) CO2 capture levels MCM reactor with H2 fired afterburner Maintain CO2 capture, but increase complexity Prereforming and MCM syngas generator Reduce high temperature components Integration of Azep and SOFC Optimise Sofc performance Other concepts also studied
