1. To reach Cape Tribulation we need to cross the Daintree River by Ferry

2. ee Vehicles queue to board the Ferry

3. If you are thinking of paddling across… think again!

4. The Ferry approaches the shore

5. and gets closer.

6. As you can see, it is capable of carrying quite heavy vehicles.

7. This “River Train” offers tourists a scenic tour of the Daintree River

8. On the ferry deck there is no room to spare.

9. From a lookout at the side of the road we can see the mouth of the Daintree River.

10. Morning glory weed invades the rainforest near the road side lookout

11. At the Discovery Centre we get to “discover” the Rain Forest

12. by walking though it on a series of walkways

13. that allow us to experience the plants and their foliage

14. up close

15. and at different levels.

16. A handset is available to listen to a commentary as we go.

17. We start in the very depths of the forest

18. and start to climb upwards

19. towards the top.

20. We climb through the canopy

21. higher and higher

22. We break through

23. until we are looking across its top.

24. Looking down on the trees

25. and into their branches

26. as we make our way down again

27. towards the bottom

28. until we reach the forest floor,

29. to find a tangle of roots and vines.

30. After all that climbing we seek refreshment

32. which we enjoy sitting out in the sun

33. surrounded by orchards of exotic fruits.

34. A true Garden of Eden.

35. The road continues North through the rain forest

36. crossing creeks

37. As they meander towards the sea.

38. At the end of the road

39. is a walk through the mangrove swamp to the beach.

40. Fortunately we are above the mud

41. Buttress roots hold the trees firmly in the mud.

42. The mangrove roots are exposed by the receding tide.

43. We break through to the beach

44. and look North towards Cape Tribulation.

45. Some brave the cold to catch some sun

46. but the bad weather has caused us to discover the rainforest and all the vegetation that the area has to offer.
