2 TiMOTHY 2:1-4 “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Suffer hardship with me, as a good solider of Christ Jesus. No soldier entangles Himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.”

2 TiMOTHY 2:1-4 “ You therefore, my son, be strong iN the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

You gotta jump in. NUMBER ONE:

Yes, you have to jump. You can’t ease into it. You just gotta go. If you don’t jump, you’ll see the effects of grace but never feel them. Strength as a human being requires grace. “…be STRONG in GRACE…”

NUMBER TWO: It’s a fight sometimes.

You used to rely on yourself to breathe regularly, but you’re underwater now, so everything is gonna change. That’s hard. Grace means we have to fight our instinctive feeling of trying to do everything on our own. That’s hard. When Paul says “suffer hardship,” he knows it’s no walk in the park…it’s tough. Gotta fight the feeling of trying to swim up for air. That’s hard too. Long story short, it’s hard. It’s a battle, but at the end of the day, grace always wins!

No soldier entangles Himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that the may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. ”

NUMBER THREE: You should stop trying.

Grace is undeserved, so if we have grace, we don’t deserve it, and therefore cannot begin to deserve it. Why do we try to go about earning something that we already have abundantly? That’s silly.. If we are submerged in an ocean of grace, there’s no way we can do anything that would make us more “wet.” Jesus erased our logical ability to try by His gift of grace on the cross.

Look, as leaders we have to realize that anything we do doesn’t make God love us more. It doesn’t make us more worthy of salvation. We should always be humbled by the fact that we deserve nothing, but we have received everything.
