2 Introduction Great Commission very familiar
Often repeated but sometimes importance is not clear unless reminded Why do we call Matthew 28:18-20 the great Commission? What makes it great? Words in commission are great because of the One speaking, the Lord Jesus

3 Introduction Great commission first spoken by Jesus to the 11 apostles
But, it has application to Christians, disciples, today Word “all” repeated several times which we will emphasize

4 Background of Great Commission
Mat 26:28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Mat 26:32 "But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee." Mat 28:16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. Mat 28:17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.

5 All Authority Has Been Given To Jesus
Mat 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

6 Jesus Reminds Pilate Divine Authority Above Civil Authority
Joh 19:10 So Pilate *said to Him, "You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?" Joh 19:11 Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."

7 Jesus Given All Authority
Act 2:36 "Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ--this Jesus whom you crucified."

8 Jesus Given All Authority
Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood-- Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.

9 Always Seek To Act By Jesus’ Authority
Col 3:17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

10 Jesus Has All Authority Now
1Co 15:23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming, 1Co 15:24 then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power.

11 Jesus Has All Authority Now
1Co 15:25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. 1Co 15:26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

12 Make Disciples of All The Nations
Mat 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

13 All Nations Potential Disciples
Since Jesus rules the earth, He alone has authority to command the way to be saved All nations to be made disciples (learners, followers, imitators) of Jesus Same gospel preached to all people

14 All Nations Potential Disciples
Mar 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Act 1:8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

15 Make Disciples of All The Nations
Disciples made when people believe in Jesus enough to repent of sins, confess Jesus as the Son of God be baptized for forgiveness of sins Baptism is immersion in water, a burial We believe and trust in God to forgive us and raise us up to a new life

16 How Are People To Be Made Disciples of Jesus?
Mar 16:16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. Luk 24:47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

17 How Are People To Be Made Disciples of Jesus?
Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Act 8:37 [And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."]

18 How Are People To Be Made Disciples of Jesus?
Act 8:38 And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him.

19 Buried and Raised With Christ Through Faith
Col 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

20 Make Disciples of All The Nations
Baptism is in the name of Father , Son and Holy Spirit Jesus’ name represents all three No Divine authority to make disciples by excluding baptism Jesus’ authority above human authority

21 Jesus’ Name Represents Father and Holy Spirit
Joh 16:14 "He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. Joh 16:15 "All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you. Act 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

22 Jesus’ Authority Above Human Authority
Act 5:27 When they had brought them, they stood them before the Council. The high priest questioned them, Act 5:28 saying, "We gave you strict orders not to continue teaching in this name, and yet, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and intend to bring this man's blood upon us."

23 Jesus’ Authority Above Human Authority
Act 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than men.

24 Teaching Them To Observe All That I Commanded You
Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

25 Teaching Them To Observe All That I Commanded You
Act 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. Act 2:42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

2Ti 2:2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

27 I Am With You Always Mat 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

28 I Am With You Always Mat 18:20 "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

29 I Am With You Always Heb 13:5 Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU," Heb 13:6 so that we confidently say, "THE LORD IS MY HELPER, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID. WHAT WILL MAN DO TO ME?"

All Authority Has Been Given To Jesus Make Disciples of All The Nations Teaching Them To Observe All That I Commanded You I Am With You Always
