Aggression Any action that is intended to injure, harm, or inflict pain on another living being or group Could be physical, or verbal hostility ◦ Eg. Yelling, road rage, child abuse, war Frustration aggressive behaviour ◦ If you cant control frustration, you become aggressive.
Aggression Differential Association Theory – Individuals learn the values, attitudes, techniques and motives for criminal behaviour through the interaction with others. ◦ i.e., aggression and violence are learned – you hang with criminals, you are a criminal
Aggression Dehumanization Deprive people of human qualities Makes it easier to commit crimes ◦ Slavery dehumanizes slaves by making them property
Bullying Overt or subtle forms of aggression. Can range from physical violence to rumours to harassment Victim may develop anxiety, depression, suicide Can be verbal (name calling), physical (hitting), social (exclusion from groups), theft, cyber
Bullying Cyberbullying – Bullying using technology. Eg., photos, webvideo Different because it is 24/7, may be anonymous, easier for people to join in and bully
