2 The world needs responsible behavior of leaders!  Failure of capital markets: current economic crisis, options backdating scandal,...  Corporate and investment scandals: Enron accounting fraud, Madoff’s Ponzi scheme,...  Unemployment: Qimonda Leipzig, Siemens BenQ, …  Environmental concerns: chemical industry, petroleum industry, …  We are all part of the game.  We all must meet social and environmental responsibilities to become a responsible leader  We all have to respect the triple bottom-line of people, planet and profit  We give you the opportunity to become a responsible leader Problems Action needed!

3 EBS sets new standards that enable learning and self- development towards responsible leadership Fosters student’s responsible behavior and reflects its impact on society  It enables students to make a substantial contribution and a meaningful difference to their learning  The experience and personal advancement gained can among others enhance personal traits such as enthusiasm, commitment, confidence, ability and communication /εdukα:rε/ is a new program of EBS for students to work on an own project which is good for society and their own development too… MissionBenefits Good is better!  Develop a responsible attitude and skilled behavior necessary for future business leaders  Sharpen the sense of sustainability and promote integrated thinking and acting  Contribute to the UN Global Compact and develop “real” global leaders

4 4 Elective for students at the end of their 2nd semester Instead of the 1st internship Internship + Limited to the best 15-20 proposals The proposed organisation set-up includes an elective approach Intake 2009

5 Optimal organizational set-up for proposed approach Planning ImplementationLearning  Choose between internship and /εdukα:rε/. Topic to be developed by students or to be chosen by pool of topics  Limited to only 15-20 projects (intake 2009),  Group work is allowed, max. group size: 4 students  A two-page project proposal until mid January (upload in the myebs dropbox)  Decision by mid February  Projects to be mainly implemented during internship time  Each team will have an advisor from faculty  Projects must enable learning and self- development through assessment, action, and reflection  A meaningful project report and ppt-presentation on project description, discovery, impact, learning  Students get 6 ECTS and a certificate after the successful satisfaction of all criteria and further rewards  Students will not get a grade  Projects with substantial impact and discovery will be presented at the EBS symposium  Best-project award from companies September - January Mid February - August September

6 Project proposal Deadline for submission: Monday 18 January 2010 Decision: Monday 15 of February 2010

7 Some examples of topics include  Fundraising and implementation of projects promoting global education initiatives  Participating in an on-going CSR program of a company which promotes incentives for environmental awareness and green products  Organizing and participating in a poverty task force promoting development, dignity and prosperity in developing countries  Give business consultancy to schools, churches, social institutions which can’t afford it, but need it
