Obamarama Schools across the world are taking part in a BBC survey – sharing their thoughts on the new president of the United States. BBC survey Here are some of the thoughts of HCC’s students. What do you think?

We would like Obama to see our school and meet everyone in it so that he can see what a nice place it is! We would like him to make a speech about how the past is exactly that, the past, and that there is now a new beginning. We would give him a Cornish flag and a pasty to remember Cornwall. We think that Barack Obama should create an equal society for all races. We think that he’s very brave as there is still a lot of discrimination against people of different backgrounds in the USA and the world. Milly, Harriet, Lily, Katherine, and Charlotte (age 14)

If Barack Obama came to Helston I would like him to meet my mum and dad so he can listen to their view on what to do as president. I would like him to see our school so he can understand a little about the culture of Britain. I would give him a Cornish flag and a Union Jack to take home with him. I think that Barack should provide jobs for the people who worked in businesses that have gone bankrupt. I think that Obama will be a good president because he is young and has lots of good ideas. Ross MacNeil (age 14)

I would like Barack to do a whole school assembly if he came to our school and to say what he is going to do to lower CO2 emissions. I think that he is a good man who could become a great president but I think that he should tackle the important environmental problems that the world faces. Toby (age 14)

We think that Barack Obama should meet the people who work at Shelter Box a local charity that helps supply aid all over the world because they work so hard and so he can see what he could do for people in poorer parts of the world. He should also visit a local pasty shop to taste real Cornish food. We would give him a Lily of the Valley because it represents the Helston Furry Dance and Flora Day our local festival. When he becomes president we hope that he will find a way to stop terrorism and to help poorer people in the USA and the world. We don’t know quite what to think of him yet but he must be an amazing man to get as far as he has. Kerri and Robyn (age 12)

I would like him to meet my family and me and I would show him the Cornish countryside and the beaches. I think that I would give Obama a model of a picture of the sea with a boat to remind him of Cornwall. I think that Barack Obama should pull out the soldiers from Afghanistan before more people die. I think that he is a respectable man who has already stunned the world. Reece (age 12)
