Job Performance Requirement 7-13 Servicing an SCBA Cylinder Using a Cascade System
JPR 7-13A A Check the hydrostatic test date of the cylinder. Remove from service if test is out of date or usable service life for composite cylinders has passed.
JPR 7-13B B Place the cylinder in the fragmentation containment device, connect the fill hose to the cylinder, and if it is equipped with a bleed valve, close it. Open the SCBA cylinder valve.
JPR 7-13C C Open the valve at the cascade system manifold or the fill hose valve. Open the valve of the cascade cylinder with the lowest pressure. This pressure must be higher than the pressure in the cylinder being filled. Observe the cylinder gauge and watch that the cylinder fills at approximately 300 to 600 psi per minute. Close the cascade cylinder valve when the pressure equalizes with the pressure in the SCBA cylinder. If the SCBA cylinder is not full, open the valve on the cascade system cylinder with next highest pressure. Repeat this step until the SCBA cylinder is full.
