1. ICMA Mid Career Managers Institute

2. Designed for ICMA members who are credentialed and who want to engage in a focused course of study and connection with others who are mid career. Also for those who may not yet be credentialed or who have management experience in fields other than local government AND who want to build strong ties with the profession and strengthen management skills with the goal of becoming credentialed managers.

3. Skill based sessions The MCM is a focused program to build skills and a cohort group of mid career managers. This program can be applied to Credentialed Manager annual professional development requirements. As part of MCM, you will create an individual professional development plan based on Applied Knowledge Assessment results and individual needs. This plan will be supported by Felicia Logan, ICMA Director of Leadership Development and executive coach, and senior credentialed managers will act as mentors and coaches throughout the MCM program. There will be in person on site events as well as e-learning sessions.

Program outline Regional Summits-Connect with managers in your region, Bob O’Neill, and others in your MCM Program Thursday Conversation with Bob O’Neill (for MCM only) Lunch and continued conversation with Felicia Logan Summit workshop, reception, and dinner with regional local government managers and ICMA leadership Friday Breakfast Conversation with Bob O’Neill about the future of the profession Development workshop with Felicia Logan (for MCM only)

Regional Meetings SE Regional Meeting Decatur, GA March 15-16 MW Regional Meeting Columbus, OH March 29-30 NE Regional Meeting State College, PA April 12-13 MP Regional Meeting Oklahoma City, OK May 3-4 *During the summit, MCM activities begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday and continue until Friday at noon.

7. Mid Career Managers Institute Proposed skill based development topics: Pick 4 Signature Leadership Effective Local Government Manager (workbook) Working with Elected Officials Ethics Financial Management Optional—you choose based on AKA and your experience

8. Expectations for completion of program Professional Development Objectives and Leadership Challenge identified. Report of learning or progress due prior to completion of program—what difference did it make to you and your organization? Meet regularly with Credentialed Manager Mentor (phone or in person) Contribute to ICMA Knowledge Network via blog or articles

Fees $1500 tuition includes: Regional Summit and workshop registration Annual Conference registration Annual Leadership Institute registration Four e-learning event registrations Coaching and mentoring Associate Credentialed Manager designation* * currently under consideration for those not yet credentialed

Travel and Lodging-paid on your own Materials-you will also purchase any additional workbooks or materials required for e-learning or coaching Stipends available Fees can be split into 2012/2013 If you are not able to attend the 2012 summit, you may still work with Felicia Logan to create your individual development plan and defer summit registration to 2013 MCM applicants must complete the Applied Knowledge Assessment prior to joining the class (separate fee) Timeframe 12-15 months (not to exceed 18 months)
